Since our last update in October, House in the Wild has quietly been a hub of dynamic activity. As the rains breathed new life into the Mara, we closed the lodge briefly and we have been looking back on an amazing year.
Our team relished a brief pause, allowing for some renovations to enhance your stay with us. This break also provided a cherished opportunity for our staff to reunite with their families.
We are excited to announce a few exciting tweaks to House in the Wild. We will be opening our extended shop, the Wild Duka, which will offer an extensive selection of local crafts, handmade jewelry from Kenya’s finest artisans and unique souvenirs from the Mara. Adding to this excitement, our new photo studio next door to it, will hopefully be open by Christmas. This will offer an inspiring space for guests to capture their safari adventures and learn photography tips frm Adam.
We have been busy with various trainings; Faith has been on a course in reflexology, ready to open our beautiful new spa tent with views of the Mara River and our senior management team have completed a first responder course with AMREF.
The Northern Mara Conservancies have been graced by the impressive presence of three male lions, while frequent sightings of the elusive leopard on Naretoi have delighted those who have been here to see it.
In our close-knit family, we share in each other’s joys but also each other’s sorrows. Our hearts go out to Adam, who has recently lost his father. We stand with him and his family in this time of loss.
As we share our annual report for Futures in the Wild, we’re reminded of our enduring commitment to conservation and community. This blog is a glimpse into the impactful work and experiences that shape Collection in the Wild.
We thank you for being a part of our journey and look forward to welcoming you (back!) to experience this incredible part of the Mara (and next year – Lamu) with us! We wish you a very happy holidays.
